If you wanna improve your weak Wireless signals, what would you do, try this steps

1.Position your wireless router (or wireless access point) in a central location
2.Move the router off the floor and away from walls and metal objects (such as metal file cabinets)
3.Replace your router’s antenna
4.Replace your computer’s wireless network adapte
5.Add a wireless repeater
6.Change your wireless channel
7.Reduce wireless interference
8.Update your firmware or your network adapter driver
9.Pick equipment from a single vendor
10.Upgrade 802.11b devices to 802.11g

    I am pulling out my hair setting up wireless in my office. I like your 10 steps, but many require additional purchases and what if they don’t work? I’ll bookmark the above list and work through it. Wish me luck.

    I’m surprise that Microsoft recommended upgrading to 802.11g (in step 10) instead of upgrading to 802.11n. If the network issues were due to interference than 802.11b and 802.11g would both be affected in almost the same way given that they are both using the 2.4 GHz band with different modulations.

    At least with 802.11n you could start using multi-path to your advantage, even if you didn’t move to the 5 GHz band. Not to mention, the increased number of Rx antennas will dramatically improve signal quality.

    I like the list, nonetheless, just surprised at item 10. What are your thoughts?
